Yeah. My only excuse is that I've been really REALLY tired. But I finally have someone to help me out with work a bit, so hopefully it'll ease up soon.

There has only been a bit of spinning, so no pictures. But there has been knitting. Still no pictures though.

In honor of Socktoberfest there has been sock knitting. And sock yarn acquiring. I think that counts too.

So, a few days late and a few dollars short, I'm going to answer Lolly's questions.

When did you start making socks? Did you teach yourself or were you taught by a friend or relative? or in a class?

I made my first sock a little over a year ago, and celebrated it on my old blog . I taught myself, through trial and error, following some good patterns and bad ones. Ultimately my first sock was actually my 3rd attempt.

What was your first pair? How have they "held up" over time?

My first pair was from the book Socks which was recommended to me by one of the wonderful gals at my LYS. I made them from Lion Brand Magic Stripes in Jellybean. What did I know about sock yarn then? They've held up rather well. I use them as sleeping/lazing/keeping my feet warm socks. They were a bit big.

What would you have done differently?

Nothing. Its all a learning experience.

What yarns have you particularly enjoyed?

Fleece Artist Merino baby! And Lornas Laces, and Mountain Colors Bearfoot, and Vesper Sock yarn.....

Do you like to crochet your socks? or knit them on DPNs, 2 circulars, or using the Magic Loop method?

I've tried everything except crocheting them. These days I do them 2 on 2 circulars. Saves me from trying to rush through them, and second sock syndrome, etc, etc.

Which kind of heel do you prefer? (flap? or short-row?)

Jury's still out on that one. I'd been doing a lot of afterthought heels until recently, but I like the way Eye of Partridge looks, and I finally found a short-row heel I like, so we'll see.

How many pairs have you made?

Not enough. Not only have I not made a real dent in my sock yarn stash, but it doesn't look like I'm going to achieve my goal this year of never having to wear store bought socks again. Soon though.
