Where I've been. Part 2
Ahh. The post you have all been waiting for. Where the hell was I the rest of November?
As some of you may know, my brother got engaged a few months back. Its taken me some time to adjust to this, he's my younger brother and all. Plus, I had a few differences with said fiancee to get over.
Well, on the 18th (yes the same day as the TomKat wedding) there was an engagement party. This was not just any party, but a party like I don't think most people will ever go to. Why? Because fiancee's parents are LOADED. And the party was at their house in Potomac, MD. Guests included a few senators, a former Ambassador to the United Nations, the Crown Prince of Iran and his wife Princess Yasmine, and his mother, the Empress of Iran (she has a book, I highly recommend it. I read it over a year ago, before I even knew that she was friends with fiancee's mother). The basement of their house...well let me tell you, its the size of a small town. She has her own full caterer's kitchen, a bar bigger than bars I've seen in, well, bars, and a full, permanent dance floor. There were over 300 people there. Big house.
So, picture me in this dress.

Only in a deep wine color. No, that's not me in the picture.
And these shoes.

Want a different shot of them?

With my hair in a very twenties style with a silver headband, and a great whonk of makeup, done by a friend of mine who does movie and tv makeup. I looked great. Unfortunately, you'll have to take my word for it. I still haven't seen pictures. But fiancee's mother kept on looking at me and saying 'wow, you're stunning.' Which I take as a complement. Supposedly pictures will be in Washington Life Magazine.
There was bellydancing, there was flamenco dancing. There was bellydancing with a lit candleabra on the dancer's head. The basement was made up to resemble a cabaret. It went until probably 2 am, and I'm surprised my feet weren't bleeding by the time it was over. Those shoes are NOT comfortable, no matter how much padding you hide in them.
So, that's part 2 of where I was in November.
Oh yeah, and I finished 2 pairs of socks in November too.
edited to add: By the way, I'm cool with fiancee now. Didn't help that she's intelligent and exotically beautiful too. But I like her.
