Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Yummy Sounds! *
Crabcakes are good. Crabcakes and good company are better.
That's right. The Glampyre flew into the Baltimore-Washington Knitting Zone and we went out for crabcakes! Mmmmm, yummy yummy. Being that she's a former (hopefully not forever) Baltimorean, and I, a Baltimorean who hasn't had crabcakes recently, it was fitting that since I didn't have time to get her more Berger Cookies (if you've ever had them, you'll know why they're important), we would run out for quick crabcakes before she went on to good ole Washington, DC.
Lots of conversation, though I'm sure we could've talked longer. And I got to see the new book! Out of the 25 patterns in this book, I'm pretty sure I'll be making probably 22 of them. If you haven't ordered this book, you are STUPID. And I'm saying that nicely. BUY IT. KNIT IT. LOVE IT.
Not only are the patterns in this book fitted (as it says in the title) and typically ingenious, as is typical of Glampyre's work, but they have a wonderful simplicity and comfortable-ness about them. She doesn't use intricate stitches or blinding colorwork, but instead lets the yarn create the texture and depth. Beautiful. And as always, her patterns are well written, not too much info, not too little. And there are schematics, which are lacking in so many other knitting pattern books. Bravo! I can't wait for more!
Needless to say, Stefanie's a lot of fun, very intelligent, and I envy her hair. (I knew she was intelligent, she was a student of my best friend's husband, Brilliant McSmartypants, aka BMS. He's a geo-chemist with a PhD and one of the smartest people I know.)
Here's a picture of The Book.

Shall I keep pushing it or are you buying it already?

* What an old friend of mine used to say to her daughter when she was little, to convince her that she really liked the food she was being fed. Fun how you can trick kids, huh?
