Intolerable cruelty.

No excuse for it.  None.

Yesterday evening there was a local news story that had me sobbing uncontrollably.  Someone doused a 2 year old pit bull with lighter fluid and set her on fire.  People stood and watched the dog running in flames down the street AND DID NOTHING.  A police officer was the one to put out the flames.  And the dog lived.  She has 3rd degree burns over 90% of her body and they took her into the shelter and she looked at them and WAGGED HER TAIL!  So they decided to try to save her.  If she was going to fight they were going to fight with her.

I cried myself to sleep last night.  What kind of evil is in people to do something like this?!  (You can read the newspaper story here.)

I spoke today with the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter where she was taken originally.  She is still alive and fighting.  They've moved her to another animal hospital in Pennsylvania.  They're taking donations in to help pay for her initial care.

With the help of some of my Friends of Piddleloop riends from Ravelry I"m going to be putting together a raffle (knitting related of course) to hopefully help raise some money.  We raised more than enough when we did one for Vinnie, so I'm sure we can do it again.

In the next day or two I'll blog again with details.  And try not to cry.

Count me in, I'll donate & don't even need to have my name entered in a raffle. I'll never understand people who do things like this, there is no excuse, no reasonable explanation, and no way anyone should ever be allowed to get away with this kind of behavior. I hope this poor, brave, sweet girl pulls through. Let me know what I can do, I'm willing to knit a pair of socks for someone as a raffle prize as well as donating.

As I said before, I'll make a few sets of stitch markers to donate. They can be added to another prize or set on their own... I will work on them today

I donated to BARCS (before Hannah had her troubles and I had some $$). I figured they probably depleted a fund or something. Now they are finding cats. What the **** is wrong with people- I should say teenagers- because most likely it is a kid doing the torture. It makes me sad and angry. I just look at my girls and think thank G_D they are off the streets
