I suppose I could write a MDS&W post. But I'm not going to. Mainly because I didn't get all that much. That and I haven't taken pictures. So maybe one day a post will appear because I'll have taken a picture of something, but don't get your hopes up.

I know, its madness! But here in Dogtopia its alls about helpin the puppies. So head on over to Lapdog Creations blog and give a little bit in honor of ASPCA Day (which I missed).

Why am I blogging in the middle of the day? Well, Sydney's at the vet for a follow up ACTH stimulation test, so Conan and I are hanging at home so as to be ready to pick up Mr. Lovin' at a moments notice.

Why am I NOT blogging about knitting or spinning? That'd be because I haven't really been spinning at all recently, and I'm avoiding working on a sweater by distracting myself with a pair of plain-vanilla socks.

What else am I going to blog about?

As I site here on a whim, cleaning out old internet bookmarks, and noticing just how many yarn stores and knitting blogs that I visited and enjoyed over the past few years are now 'dead' links, I can't help but wonder what the average life-span of a knit-blog is. Or any blog for that matter.

You know, you'd think (as a woman) that when you're ovulating, Mother Nature would do her damdest (sp?) to make you attractive to the opposite sex. Radiant skin, shining, bouncy hair, the gamut. For reasons of, like, procreation? Instead, we get zits. Why? I swear I had the greatest skin for like 3 years in my mid-20s. Now its a fight to keep it reasonably nice. Its like I'm a teenager all over again. Not that I have zits right now, but I'm feeling like I may someday soon.

For some reason I decided I had to go through the mess of jewelry, both expensive and costume, the other day. There were some pieces I thought I had gotten rid of long ago that I re-discovered, along with stuff that I can't believe I ever bought. But I can't find the Victorian Snake Ring that I managed to find in a store years ago and get for an absolute steal since the guy had no clue what he really had. I'm good that way. But I'm apparently also good at losing it. Maybe if I can convince myself to stop looking for it, it'll show up again.

I got an iPhone people! And I lurve it with a bizarre passion. I've named it Mama's little tax deduction. Because it is. Its my first business deduction of 2008! I think I'm going to have to knit something for it.

If you were one of the super-super-cool people who have already donated to Vinnie's sick fund...THANKS! They blew out their original goal of $1000 in the first day of the raffle, so Karen changed the goal to $2000, which will cover all of Vinnie's medical expenses, and any overage will help some of the other dogs.

So, if you were one of those who has helped out. You are definitely 'down' with me and the rest of the residents of Dogtopia.

I've had some other posts in my head over the past week, but I swear, I'm never near a computer when I need one.

If you believe that then I have a bridge I'd like to sell you....

Haha, you thought I was going to say 'lose some' didn't you?

Go here and help a pup get a leg-up. His name is Vinnie and his mom is part of the Friends of 'P' group on Ravelry. You can read about his recent illness on KTMay's blog and maybe even give a little moolah. All it takes is $5 to enter the raffle, and then, not only can you become a Friend of Vinnie, but maybe you too can be a Friend of 'P'.

The goal is to raise $1000, but I think they'll be able to raise a whole lot more. I've already given $50, and its not yet the end of the month.

Sydney says you better help out.

Better than I thought

So the big news for the day is that even though, yes, Sydney does have Cushings, the medication is as expensive as I thought it was going to be. Big sigh of relief. I'm still going to be de-stashing though. It just makes sense. I've got so much stuff in the yarn rooms and who knows when I'll get to all of it. Especially if I keep buying more. And you know I will.

I've been neglectful about blogging things recently. So I'm going to back in time a bit (insert Wayne's World fantasy diddly-oop diddly-oop noises right....here) to February. I'm a member of the Friends of 'P' group on Ravelry (I know, like I REALLY need to post that link, huh?) and we decided to do a one package Friends of 'P' swap. I opted to have an international partner and got to spoil Saira over in England. A pretty cool chick if I do say so myself. She has SNAKES. She's just started crocheting, so I sent her amongst other things a book that she'd been trying to get her hands on. Now I'm looking forward to pictures of her first crocheted weiner dog. I was spoiled by the wonderful, multi-lingual Claire. I can honestly say that I damn near ripped off Mailman Charlie's hands when he brought the package I grabbed it from him so fast. Stupidly, I didn't take a picture of the package, and by the time I thought about it the paper was everywhere and I was giddily taking pictures of everything. Sorry if they're a little blurry. Giddiness.

She wrote me a sweet little note on this card. I love the picture, I've seen it on Etsy and it makes me smile. I've actually kept it because I think I may just have to frame it or something.

Look at this! She actually MADE a needle roll for me!

I'm incredibly impressed by this because MY seams would've been all over the place. You can see the cool box she packed stuff in underneath it. Thats probably my favorite part of the whole package actually.

She sent some books.

I think my French is still good enough that I should be able to make a lot of these recipes, fortunately.

There's some really neat stuff in here.

I had to keep this away from Sydney.

Because when you open it up

this was inside. And I had to fish a piece of it out of Mr. Piggles mouth, still in the wrapper. Which was fortunate, because some of them had liquor in them.

Once I opened up that cool box I quickly figured out why everything smelled so good.

One of those sugar bath cubes. And she made me some super, super cute dog-themed stitch markers.

She included yarn. Of course.

Though it was not immediately obvious because of THESE!!!!

Doggy sox! Yes, I've already worn them.

The last picture is kind of the hardest to describe. They're funny shot glasses.

Funny ducks, crazy dogs and goofy sheep. And they're all making their respective noises in French. Brought me back to Junior High days it did.

The vet called while I was out today and left a message for me about Sydney's blood tests that we had done on Thursday. We're going to have to adjust one of his heart medicines a touch and he doesn't have thyroid problems. But he is positive for Cushings. It doesn't come as too much of a surprise to me, with all of the research I've been doing, plus the information a friend of mine who is a veterinary technician gave me, I was pretty certain he had it. Now we're going to have to figure out what to do next.

So here's why I'm posting tonight. First of all, Sydney could use the positive thoughts. But secondly, if there's anyone who reads my blog who has any experience with Cushings, please let me know about it. It'll help ME.

Knitting. With distractions.

It causes major fuck-ups.

I've been knitting the every-super-popular Drops sweaterthat everyone is doing. And I'm doing mine in Eskimo (one of the called for yarns) since it was on sale at Ram Wools. But I've not really been paying good attention. Which leads to frogging.

Which leads to that big old yarn ball you see there. Its actually 3 balls, spit-spliced.

In between that and just general time wasting I've been working on these.

They're my first stranding project. Don't think I'm doing all that badly if I do say so.

At some point I'll finish taking pictures of all my de-stash stuff and price it, etc, etc. Just bear with me. Its March.

How come they have all sorts of bumper stickers and stuff that say 'I love my (insert dog breed here)', but none that say 'I love my super-expensive dogs'? Or even 'I love my super-expensive dogs and I'm going into debt.'

I love my dudes to no end. As a matter of fact, I can't think about existing without them a lot of the time. But DAYUM (or just plain old DAMN) are they expensive!

Between their food, their medications, their tests, their cardiologist appointment...and now Sydney may have Cushings Disease. Not to be taken lightly. I can be as positive that he has it as I want to be, we still have to test for it so we can figure out how to dose him. Neither test nor treatment is cheap. Sydney dude, can you get better from one thing so momma doesn't have to pay for so many things at once?!? Please little man?

I've been going through the bat-cave, Fiber Room North (aka the upstairs room full of fiber/yarn). I'm going to have to de-stash some stuff and soon. I still haven't had my taxes done and I gots to pay for this somehow! Arrrrgh!

Seriously. I should blog more.

I mean, I've had ideas about what to blog about in my head and I haven't taken the time to do it. I've taken pictures of knitting, finished my Monkey Farts and posted them on Ravelry, but not here. Oh no, not here! Heaven forbid!

So here I am, my father's sweater finally finished (just!), a load of laundry in the wash, socks soaking in Eucalan in the bathroom sink, a dog on my lap, procrastinating from packing to leave stupid-early in the morning for yet another Toy Fair. Tah dah! A blog post.

At least the weather isn't supposed to be nice tomorrow, so I won't be wishing I was out practicing on my motorcycle. Yes, MY MOTORCYCLE! I finally got it. Now its sitting under a cover, in the driveway. We look at eachother longingly every few days.

I'm trying to figure out what knitting to bring with me. I need to bring something, but since its only for during the bus ride, and maybe a bit before I go to bed tomorrow night...maybe just the socks I've been working on in between other projects. They're nearly done too. The Bird in Hand mittens? Too hard to read the chart in a cramped space. Maybe I'll do some handwarmers or something. Bah. I'll probably just take the socks.

Cheesy blog post huh?

Next time I'll try not to post such a blog cop-out.

Since I haven't posted since last year. And I have no desire whatsoever to post about resolutions, 2007 FOs, or the fact that I seem to be shitting knitting projects, I'm going to go with a book recommendation.

TRAMPS LIKE US by Kristen Buckley. Possibly the funniest book I've ever read. Each chapter was funnier than the one before. And its a memoir. Someone actually lived this! And turned out reasonably normal. I recommend that you prepare yourself before reading by making sure you have tissues, a change of underwear or two and possible some of those ww-ww pads that you get for housetraining puppies. You'll definitely laugh hard enough to pee yourself a little.

Ok. Got to run. I've been watching Chris' daughter on Fridays this month, and Princess Poo just woke up from her post-bottle-post-diaper-change nap.

What? You thought I wouldn't put up a holiday post?

Some people sell parts of their YARN stash. Me? I sell my bags.

I've decided that since I could use the money to help pay down the bills for Sydney's various and expensive hospitalizations, AND that I have some knitting bags that I've not made use of recently....well, you can see where this is going.

So I lined them up and took pictures of them tonight. I'll try to describe them as well as possible. The price I'm asking doesn't include shipping, but since all except for one of them should fit into one of those flat rate packages from the post office, shipping is $6. Fair?

Here we go:

This is a generic crafting bag that I bought from JoAnns a while ago. As you can see, its huge. It has a strap to carry over your shoulder and pockets all the way around the outside. It comes with a needle roll. This is the one that will probably need alternative shipping. I'm asking $10 for it.

This one amuses me to no end. Its made entirely of duct tape (or duck tape, who knows?). I had it made for me for use as a knitting bag. It has 3 interior pockets. I paid like $65 for it. I'm asking $20.

For a while I was on a kitschy knitting bag kick. Got this one from e-bay. Its vintage and I love the mis-spelling of 'purl'. I'd like $10 for this one. SOLD!!!!

Another kitschy bag. This one is actually a hair roomier. Asking $10 for this one too. SOLD! YAY!

This is actually a suede purse. No interior pockets. But it is suede, and green, and cool. Also $10. (SOLD!)
Last but not least is a bag that I bought from Sugabeats Creations. They are $65 new.

That front shiny part is a pocket to hold knitting books, with many separate pockets for needles and notions. You can see better photos on their website. I'd like $30 for this one. (SOLD and winging its way westward as I type! Thank you.)

That's right. Thank DOG its finally fucking Friday.

I was all excited, going to take pictures and everything, all sorts of stuff came in the mail today. I was going to blog and all, with links, and everything.

And then I dropped a jar of spaghetti sauce down the basement steps and it exploded. And I had to clean freakin' spaghetti sauce off of my basement floor and walls, and try to get it out of the french drains. It smells like marinara in my basement.

Basements shouldn't smell like marinara.
